Seven is the number of dreams, schemes, fantasies, and high ideals. There is a similar scene in the 4 of cups except the figure is obviously disgruntled and unhappy in the four whereas he's perfectly content and even rather swept away by his visions in the seven. In the DruidCraft, a lone young person daydreams of cups in a pool while in reality his own cup sits unused beside him. In the Bruegel, there is a very obvious "castle in the air" pictured. In the RWS the figure holds an empty cup and surveys the various contents of all the other cups, seemingly trying to decide with which to fill his own. I also see 7 of cups as getting carried away with one's emotional desires to a dreamland of imaginary or real choices and temptations. LOL, this is a wonderful quote! Too true! After you get whatever you really wanted, in the end you may think "was it worth it?" or even "why did I ever want this? it is giving me nothing but grief." So, I guess it is also knowing exactly what you want, what would you make you happy, content and fulfilled. You may dream about some hunky guy, or having that flash car and all that sort of stuff. It is also about things of deep personal significance such as success, wealth, strength, sexual relationships, spiritual matters and personal expansion. To me the Seven of Cups means making choices and decisions. I'm glad that someone else has done this one, I'm just as confused at it as you are. I've not got the traditional decks so don't have the picture card to tell the story. Mind you, that's just my understanding of it based on a few books. But after seven - OH DEAR! The Seven of Cups is a stumbling dash to the lavatory just momnets after you thought you were being irresistable to an attractive stranger."Īll the lustful wantoness associated with seven cups filled with intoxicating pleasure. Lon DuQuette used the analogy of "Three martinis is abundantly enough four is just the luxury showing off five is disappointing because you're not getting high anymore, you're just getting smashed. this married with the astrological attributes of Venus in Scorpio. Aleister Crowley entitled this card "Debauch", which he formulated by the 7th sephirth of the Tree of Life (Netzach) in the 2nd qabalistic world, Briah, which is the creative world, corresponding to the suit of cups. From my understanding of the Seven of Cups, Its a card representing illusionary success, over indulgance, deception, and all other vanity related shortcummings.
